Facial Assessment: What I am Looking at as Your Injector

Before I decide what treatment is right for you at Beauty By Britt, I want to look at your face first.

It sounds simple, but there is a lot I am paying attention to during an assessment. My goal is not to look at one line, one wrinkle, or one area you want to change. I am looking at how everything works together before deciding on the right treatment plan to help you reach your goals.

Balance

I am looking at your face as a whole and paying attention to balance and symmetry. Are both sides of your face moving the same way? Is one side of your face stronger than the other? Are your muscles pulling differently from side to side?

Small differences are completely normal. In fact, most faces are naturally asymmetrical. But understanding those differences helps me decide where treatment may be helpful and where it may not be necessary.

Volume and Hollowing

I am also looking at where you have gained or lost volume over time.

As we age, we naturally lose volume in different areas of the face. You may notice hollowing under the eyes, around the temples, through the cheeks, or around the lower face. Sometimes replacing a small amount of lost volume can make a big difference.

But more filler is not always the answer.

I am also looking for areas that may already have enough volume or areas where adding more could create heaviness. Understanding where you have lost volume and where you have retained it helps us create a much more balanced result.

Heaviness

One of the things I pay close attention to is heaviness in the face.

Sometimes what looks like a lack of definition is not actually a lack of volume. Adding filler in the wrong area can make a face feel heavier rather than more lifted or defined.

This is why I do not want to treat your face based on a checklist. I want to understand what is creating the concern in the first place.

Your Muscles

Your muscles play a big role in how your face looks both at rest and when you move.

I am looking at how strongly different muscles are working, whether one side is more active than the other, and how your expressions affect your features. This is especially important when we are talking about Tox.

Two people can have the same concern but need completely different treatment because their facial muscles behave differently.

Lines

I am looking at your lines when your face is moving, but I am also looking at what happens when your face is completely relaxed.

There is a difference between an expression line that appears with movement and a static line that is still visible at rest. That distinction matters when deciding what treatment may actually help.

Sometimes the goal is to soften movement. Sometimes we need to address the skin itself. Sometimes a combination makes the most sense.

Skin Quality

And then there is the skin.

I am looking at dryness, texture, breakouts, redness, sun spots, pigmentation and the early signs of aging. Your skin quality is a huge part of how your face looks, and injectables are not always the answer.

You can have beautiful facial balance and still feel like your skin looks tired, dry, uneven or dull. In those cases, we may need to focus on the skin rather than adding volume or relaxing a muscle.

The Assessment Comes First

This is why I always want to assess your face before deciding on a treatment.

You may come in thinking you need filler, but I may see that your skin quality is the bigger concern. You may think you need more volume, but I may see heaviness that would make additional filler unnecessary. Or you may have a concern that can be addressed with a completely different treatment than you expected.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to facial aesthetics. The best treatment plan starts with understanding your face, your skin, and what is actually creating the concern.
